Our Mission
Buffalo Valley Public Schools is committed to providing every student — from PreK through 12th grade — with a safe, supportive, and challenging learning environment. Nestled in the Kiamichi Mountains of southeast Oklahoma, our district combines the strength of a close-knit rural community with forward-looking academics in STEM, agriculture, and career readiness.
Founded in 1942 with an elementary school (K–8) and a high school (9–12), Buffalo Valley has grown steadily to meet the needs of our community. PreK programs were added in the late 1990s, and beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, the district proudly recognizes a third site — BVMS (7–8) — giving our middle school students their own identity alongside BVES (PreK–6) and BVHS (9–12). All three schools operate on a single shared campus: the elementary serves students across three buildings — one for PreK, one for Kindergarten, and one for grades 1–6. The middle school and high school share a building, with a detached facility for the agriculture program. The campus also includes a shared basketball gym, baseball and softball fields, and a separate administration building housing the superintendent's office, business office, and board room.
With dedicated teachers, active family engagement, and a tradition of Buffalo pride, we prepare students not just for tests, but for life — whether their path leads to college, a career, the military, or service to their community.
Quick Facts
Our Schools
Buffalo Valley Elementary School
BVES provides a nurturing foundation for our youngest learners, from 3-year-old programs through sixth grade, across three dedicated buildings on campus — one for PreK, one for Kindergarten, and one for grades 1–6. With small class sizes and dedicated intervention specialists, every child receives the individualized attention they need to grow as readers, thinkers, and community members.
Buffalo Valley Middle School
Recognized as a third site beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, BVMS gives our 7th and 8th graders a dedicated identity within the shared middle school and high school building. With focused academic programming in STEM, agriculture science, and computer science, students build the skills and confidence they need for high school and beyond.
Buffalo Valley High School
BVHS prepares students for life after graduation, whether that means college, career, or military service. Sharing a building with BVMS and supported by a dedicated agriculture facility on campus, BVHS offers competitive athletics, active FFA and Robotics programs, an eSports team, and partnerships for online coursework. Our students graduate with real-world skills and a plan for the future.
